Supporting the development of effective, committed public safety professionals and accountable, efficient emergency services.
Stakeholder project scoping and system modeling.
Custom-designed, culturally appropriate curriculum
Independent apparatus design consulting and equipment needs evaluation
Public safety equipment and apparatus are just tools…tools that must be appropriate for the environment they work in and for the personnel that utilize them.
Targhee Fire’s specialists work closely with stakeholders to craft programs that address regulatory requirements, response challenges, personnel needs, operation and maintenance structures, and budget requirements.
An apparatus program Orcas Island Fire and Rescue in Washington State, USA, showcases this approach. Emergency services at Orcas—an isolated island that lies near the Canadian and U.S. border—faced a litany of challenges: budgetary constraints, regulatory requirements, limited personnel, and a mountainous response area with few water resources.
Utilizing advanced technology and creative, ergonomic design, the department acquired a fleet of five unique, highly effective fire engines custom fabricated by respected manufacturer W.S. Darley.
Targhee Fire’s projects range from fabricating specialized wildland skid units for rural fire departments, designing wildland fire and structural fire apparatus, to key roles in public safety development programs at some of the world’s largest cities.
The Reverend, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. taught that, “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”
Emergency services personnel face numerous challenges and significant risks in performing their duty. These risks highlight the need for public and political support, organizational efficiency, effective leadership, dedicated staff, ongoing training, and proper equipment to protect emergency service workers and maintain their ability to respond effectively.
In many countries, emergency services are held in very high esteem—so much so they are consistently identified as one of the most respected public service professions. This respect is based on public trust, which in turn is based on values: the effective performance of duty, professional ethics and personal and organizational morality.
Targhee Fire is committed to the principle that emergency services is an honorable calling, grounded in concern for human welfare and mutual respect and trust between responders and the citizens they serve.
